It was the era of Gloria Jean, Bobby Breen, and the five little Peppers.  It was also a time of massive military maneuvers and preparation for war.  Germany had fallen into the hands of loonies who brought a new meaning to the word madness.

High praise went to Charlie Chaplin for raising public awareness of Nazism, but The Three Stooges preceded Chaplin by almost a year.  Their comedy "You Natzy Spy" was in theaters when Americans supported a hands-off policy toward Germany.  Moe played a paperhanger hired by three businessmen (Mr. Onay, Mr. Ixnay, and Mr. Amscray) to save their country from an incompetent ruler.  With Curly as his Field Marshal and Larry as his Minister of Propaganda, Moe ruled Moronika through round-table discussions.

"Nothing is on the square in Moronika!" he complained.

Said Curly:  "He's a little grouchy.  He got up on the wrong side of the gutter this morning.  I'm going to take him up to the roof to overthrow him."
