Prepare for takeoff.  The technology to make automobiles fly is at your door.

In Israel, Urban Aeronautics is testing the CityHawk, a two-seater. MACRO Industries in Huntsville, Alabama, is testing two models, the Skyrider and the X-Hawk.  A company in Washington is already taking deposits on a two-seater it has developed.

And we're being told they may all be on the market as early as 2010.

The price for a flying car will be a hefty one, but look on the bright side - - - you'll be able to wear your grandfather's old bomber jacket and join Captain Midnight's Secret Squadron.

No more sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic.  At the flip of a switch you'll be able to rise above the snarl and fly home.

But imagine having to tell your wife that your X-Wing got caught up in some telephone wires!

Imagine police arresting your teenager and his friends for dog-fighting over the city!

"Look!  Up in the sky!  It's a bird!  It's a plane!  Oh my God, it's my kid!!!"
